Huntingdon Life Sciences, a contract testing laboratory in Cambridgeshire with a site in New Jersey, became the focus of a long international campaign after undercover investigations in the late 1990s exposed the treatment of animals there. From 1999 the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) campaign targeted the company and the businesses that worked with it.
The campaign led to new laws and to prison sentences for campaigners in the UK and the US. These newsletters, from both sides of the Atlantic, record how it was organised and how it was fought – see also Books and Zines for Diaries from Hell, Dog Days in Huntingdon and SHAC: A Campaign That Made History.
